The highly innovative startup from Ludwigslust offers not only an efficient energy solution, but is also a remarkable example of the supra-regional founding activities in MV.

The low-voltage based heating wallpaper of the StartUps offers as an innovative full heating a highly efficient alternative to expensive heating systems and is the sensible end piece of a sustainable energy use in your own four walls.

Due to the modular principle, the product has the normal properties of wallpaper, can be applied to walls just as easily and edited afterwards without any problems. Drilling, wallpapering, tiling or painting: all this is also possible on the heating wallpaper after installation.

Concretely, MPO Tec – Tapetenheizung offers a complete heating system, consisting of heating wallpapers with complete accessories. The team around founder Hennes Röseler also advises customers in the extended context of installation work, such as renovation and insulation measures. However, the heating wallpaper is also easy to install yourself as a DIY kit.

The customers wish for an efficient solution that combines low costs and sustainability.

Water-based heating systems are significantly more expensive due to the complex installation and maintenance compared to the innovative heating wallpaper of the StartUp. Additionally, private customers can save further costs through the modular system and the uncomplicated installation by applying the heating wallpaper themselves.

But also more and more craftsmen, painters, interior designers or drywall builders swear by the new heating system and win customers through specially set up demonstration rooms.

A craftsman sells MPO-Tec mainly materials and training, hardware stores as well as specialist retailers are also already showing interest.

Challenges and Milestones: The Path of „mpo-heat“ to Market Penetration

The current challenges for the company include two key areas: entering online sales with a new website and a shop, as well as building the first large customer accounts. These steps are crucial for growth and establishing the brand in the market.

From Website to Brand

Currently, the StartUp is working on creating an attractive and functional website that not only facilitates the sale of products, but also clearly and memorably presents the brand. The provisional working title „mpo-heat“ was chosen to match the company name, but now a more memorable name is to be found. This is particularly important, as it becomes more difficult to change the brand name as it becomes more well-known.

Major Customers in Focus

The development of large customer accounts is a special focus for the StartUp. This is not just about building trust in a new product, but also about negotiating suitable prices and gaining experience. In particular, the acquisition of stable and long-term business relationships is part of the sales strategy in the current phase.

This figure may seem small in terms of mass, but given the still minimal market share, it is remarkable and the first milestone. Every small success counts and contributes to the positive development for our climate. Additionally, the StartUp is also increasingly celebrating successes in cooperation with major producers, distribution partners and other companies.

These partnerships create valuable synergies and contribute to further establishment in the market.

Why Founding in the Countryside Works

The startup comes from the small town of Ludwigslust in Southwest Mecklenburg and also plans to stay there. In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, founders find both the infrastructure and the scene and community, without having to relocate their company headquarters to a larger city.

Through a local ideas competition, Accelerate:MV in Rostock and finally into the supra-regional start-up scene of our federal state: MPO Tec is a striking example of how founding works with us in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

At the current stage, I think it’s essential to „take the curve correctly“ to get back on track with plenty of momentum. Many future-defining processes are currently underway and are crucial for the foundation of the next 5 – 10 years.

Question 1: What is going particularly well from your point of view in the startup scene in MV?

The mutual support and the good atmosphere that results from it. The network meetings are partly like a friendly exchange, from which you always come out with an added value.

Question 2: What do you wish for the future? 

That I had more time and could participate in all the events more often!

If you had a vision for the start-up scene, or the founding scene of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, what would it be?

That we preserve our wonderfully large areas of forests and meadows and get more people back to the countryside. By having some cities build skyscrapers, for example, and expanding less in width. So, a mix of modern, technology-driven life and quiet nature.
