What is the UNIQUE idea competition?
The UNIQUE idea competition is an annual competition held in Greifswald, which has been organized by Witeno GmbH since 2020. Since 2006, the competition has been promoting creative and innovative ideas from students, researchers, alumni, and employees of the university and regional research institutions.
The goal is to develop viable business models from promising concepts - whether for products, services, technological applications, or non-profit projects. Participants not only receive attractive prize money and special prizes but also gain access to workshops, individual consulting, and support from startup experts. Additionally, the best teams qualify for the statewide competition "inspired - The Idea Competition in MV".
Organization and partners
The competition is organized by WITENO GmbH, in partnership with the University of Greifswald, the Gründungswerft, and regional partners such as the Leibniz Institute for Plasma Research and Technology (INP), the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, and the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institute.
The competition has already produced numerous successful spin-offs, including the legal tech startup Advocado. The submission deadline for the 2025 competition ends on June 18, 2025, at 8 am. Interested parties can register through the application portal at unique.uni-greifswald.de.
