Cell2Green - Biodegradable film.

Cell2Green develops biotechnological processes to convert renewable raw materials into sustainable, bio-based products for agriculture and industry.

Cell2Green produces a recyclable, biodegradable and additive-free packaging made of cellulose, which is manufactured through an innovative and environmentally friendly process from renewable raw materials and represents a sustainable alternative to conventional plastic films.

Founder Dirk Hollmann

About the Main Product

The film is made from renewable raw materials, such as cellulose, which is biodegradable. Compared to conventional oil-based films, which often end up in the oceans or are burned, the Cell2Green film is a sustainable alternative.

Another advantage of the Cell2Green film is the cost-effective production process, which uses environmentally friendly, recyclable chemicals, thereby reducing CO2 emissions by up to 70%. Furthermore, the film can be recycled and reused through the same process after use, contributing to the circular economy.

Success Stories

Cell2Green has already won several awards for its innovative technology, including the "inspired Rostock" idea competition in June 2021 and the statewide "inspired Mecklenburg-Vorpommern" idea competition in the same month.

In August 2021, the company participated in the Berlin Valley Tour with renowned business angels and investors, and in October 2021, it held cooperation talks with MERCER, one of the world's largest cellulose manufacturers, and in November 2021, it won the largest and most important national business plan competition "Science4Life".

In 2025, the first round of investment was completed.

The company was founded by Dr. Dirk Hollmann, one of the co-founders of Cell2Green, who, as part of his research work at the University of Rostock, developed an environmentally friendly process to use renewable raw materials as a basis for replacing climate-damaging products.

The Cell2Green film is thus a result of years of research and development.
