Michael Hilgers is a trained carpenter and studied architect. This solid foundation forms the basis for his unbiased and inventive design process.
His minimalist objects and inspiring interiors are rarely created based on a rigid briefing, but are the result of an unconventional initiative research journey, always guided by the search for "the good idea".
In a saturated world, Hilgers finds his space for sustainable innovations mainly at the interfaces between inside and outside, architecture and nature, as well as work and living. These self-explanatory works often open up unoccupied niches by adaptively and symbiotically connecting with their environment.
Hilgers' stated goal is to simplify his designs as much as possible, so that they can be simply useful in the sense of a tool.
His design studio, Pragmatic Design, offers innovative solutions for modern living and working. Products and services:
- Space-saving furniture: Michael Hilgers develops multifunctional furniture pieces specifically designed for small spaces. An example is the Fläpps secretary, a foldable wall table that can be space-savingly folded up when not in use.
