Startup Migrants – A Europe Wide Initiative for Founders with Migration History
Startup Migrants is a pan European organization that advocates for migrants and internationals in the startup scene. The initiative was founded in 2019 and aims to create equal opportunities in the startup ecosystem – regardless of origin, social background or residence status.
The organization works on a political level, with local communities and directly with founders. It offers studies, workshops, policy recommendations and networking events to break down systemic barriers and strengthen inclusive entrepreneurship.
The Startup Preschool – The First Step to Your Own Founding
The Startup Preschools are a central program of Startup Migrants. They are aimed at people with migration history and internationals who are interested in founding a company – but have had little or no access to networks, resources or knowledge about startups.
In a three to five day intensive workshop participants learn the basics of entrepreneurship:
- How do I develop a business idea?
- How does a business model work?
- What legal basics do I need in Germany?
- Where can I find support, financing or funding programs?
Practical exercises, peer exchange and networking with local founders are at the center of the workshops. The workshops are mostly free of charge, low threshold and available in several languages.
