The founding shipyard startup wins VORSPRUNG award at the East German Economic Forum.
Greifswald, May 2025 – With a groundbreaking MedTech innovation, the startup COLDPLASMATECH GmbH has won the prestigious VORSPRUNG-Preis 2025 award of the East German Economic Forum (OWF). The company was founded by Carsten C. Mahrenholz, a member of the Gründungswerft community.
From Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to international medical technology
COLDPLASMATECH originated from a research laboratory in Greifswald and has specialized in the treatment of chronic and infected wounds using Kaltplasmatechnologie technology. With the patented CPT®-System, the company is able to effectively combat even multiresistant germs – a medical breakthrough that is already being used in numerous European clinics.
The company impressively demonstrates that internationally relevant high technology can also emerge in structurally weaker regions – and thus makes an important contribution to the economic development of Eastern Germany.
