Cell2Green – A Start-Up from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

Startup ecosystem map

Cell2Green is an innovative company based in Rostock, Germany, specializing in the production of a revolutionary recyclable biofilm.

This film is composed of renewable resources such as cellulose, offering biodegradability. Compared to conventional oil-based films that often end up in oceans or are incinerated, Cell2Green’s film stands as a sustainable alternative.

Dr. Dirk Hollmann, one of Cell2Green’s co-founders, initiated the company after developing an environmentally friendly process during his research at the University of Rostock. The process utilizes renewable resources to replace environmentally harmful products. Hence, Cell2Green’s film is the result of years of dedicated research and development.

Another advantage of Cell2Green’s film is its cost-effective manufacturing process. It employs eco-friendly, recyclable chemicals, reducing CO2 emissions by up to 70%. Moreover, the film can be recycled and reused through the same process after its use, contributing to a circular economy.
